Jo Haywood our Family Liaison Officer

I’m Jo Haywood, the Children and Families officer here at Beech Street Primary School. My role is to support families to ensure their children are safe, happy, learn positively and flourish during their time at Beech Street.

I am available for informal chats on the playground, you can make an appointment to see me, or if needed home visits, so please feel free to come up and say hello.

I thought it might be useful to let you know the main things I can help with and if I can’t help I often know someone who can!

As the safeguarding lead I am responsible for working closely with children’s services and outside agencies to support you and your child offering a confidential service at times when they may have changes in their lives or just need a bit of extra support.

As the attendance lead I support children and families to improve school attendance and punctuality by looking at the barriers to this and seeking the right help. This includes working with school staff to get the right support in place and working with education welfare service, sending letters, speaking to colleagues in health and children’s services.

As mental health lead I speak to children and families about all aspects of mental health in order to recognise children when they are struggling and offer them support I also seek support where needed from outside agencies such as place 2 be and CAMHs (child and adolescent mental health)

As one of the thrive leads I work closely with our SENDco (Jane Fazackerley) to create action plans that can support children who may need some extra support and liaise with staff to ensure the right support is put in place for them.
